oneil-mcTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Bluffton University in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both schools on Saturday.

Bluffton opened the scoring with a goal by Laura Fish in the 36th minute to take a 1-0 lead at the half.

Rose-Hulman answered with a score in the 85th minute to force two overtime sessions.  Sophomore Haley O'Neil (Batavia, Ill.) scored her first goal of the season on a pass from freshman Katie DeMoss (Martinsville/Roncalli) to knot the match.

The Fightin' Engineers hit a pair of crossbars and continued to apply pressure late in the match before the contest ended at 1-1.

Rose-Hulman outshot Bluffton 14-13 in the contest, with sophomore Nicky Wheeler (Avon) recording a match high five shots.  Aimee Whitmer had four shots for Bluffton.

Freshman Lucinda Combs (Danville, Ky./Boyle County) recorded seven saves for Rose-Hulman, with Maggie Armstrong snagging six for Bluffton.

Rose-Hulman stands 5-4-2 overall and 0-0-1 in league play, while Bluffton has a 2-6-1 record and is also 0-0-1 in conference matches.
