Women's Soccer Battles Millikin to Draw

wheeler-mcTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Millikin University women's soccer teams battled to a scoreless draw on Saturday at Jim Rendel Field.

Rose-Hulman showed strength as the contest progressed, outshooting the Big Blue 2-1 in the second overtime period after Millikin owned a 10-3 advantage in shots during the second half.  Millikin outshot the Engineers 19-9 on the day.

Rose-Hulman battled Millikin to nearly even possession time, shown by an advantage of three corner kicks to two.  The team defensive was the key to the draw.

Freshman Lucinda Combs (Danville, Ky./Boyle County) recorded 11 saves in goal to preserve her third shutout of the season.

Offensively, sophomores Nicky Wheeler (Avon) and Haley O'Neil (Batavia, Ill.) joined freshman Katie DeMoss (Martinsville/Roncalli) with two shots each to lead the Rose-Hulman effort.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-3-1 on the season, while Millikin has a 3-2-2 mark.  The Fightin' Engineers host Fontbonne on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
