ELSAH, ILL. -- Principia College scored once in each half to overcome a strong Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defensive effort and earn a 2-0 women's soccer win on Thursday night.

Principia scored six minutes into the first half and added an insurance goal with 13 minutes remaining in the contest.

Senior Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/Pike) recorded 10 saves in net to lead the Engineer defensive effort and keep Rose-Hulman within striking distance.

Senior Molly Rice (Marion/Oak Hill) had the two best scoring attempts for the Engineers, including hitting the post on a shot in the second half.

Principia outshot Rose-Hulman 16-9 in the match, although the Engineers held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.  Rice, senior Carolyn Guzik (Avon, Ohio/Padua Franciscan), sophomore Rachel Johnstone (Loveland, Ohio) and senior Anna Vogel (East Greenwich, R.I./LaSalle Academy) had two shots each for Rose-Hulman.

Principia improved to 2-0-1 on the season, while Rose-Hulman stands 1-2.  The Engineers host Marian University from Indianapolis on Sunday at noon at Jim Rendel Field.
