TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Earlham College battled through a steady
rain to keep its hopes of a top seed for the HCAC Tournament in
place with a 2-0 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
on Wednesday night.
Ikumi Doucette scored her eighth goal of the season in the 59th
minute, and Ryder Comstock provided goal number six on a pass from
Paige Thomas in the 72nd minute to provide the Earlham offense.
Senior Julie Brennan (Indianapolis/Pike) kept
Rose-Hulman within striking distance by recording seven
saves. Sophomore Rachel Johnstone (Loveland,
Ohio) led the Engineer offense with two shots.
Earlham outshot Rose-Hulman 14-4 in the match and had all four
corner kicks. The Quakers improved to 7-1 in league play and
10-5-1 overall, while Rose-Hulman stands 5-11-1.
Rose-Hulman concludes the 2011 season with a Saturday home
Senior Day matchup against Defiance College at 1 p.m.
