TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior defender Spencer Johnson (Yorkville, Ill./Christian) has earned academic all-district honors for his play on the field and efforts in the classroom, in results released today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Johnson has been named to the NCAA Division III academic all-district first-team squad for district seven, in results released today. He will advance to the Capital One national ballot, with the Academic All-America Team scheduled for release on November 22.
Johnson has started all 17 games this season with one assist for the top rated defensive unit in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. In his career, Johnson has played in 55 matches as a Fightin' Engineer and was named second-team all-conference in 2012.
In his classroom, the mechanical engineering major carries a 3.76 grade point average and is President of the Triangle fraternity.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-5-4 overall this season and hosts Manchester University in the Senior Day match on Saturday at 3. The Fightin' Engineers need a win or a draw against Manchester to clinch a bid to next week's HCAC Tournament.
