ANDERSON, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) scored three minutes into the second overtime to lift the Fightin' Engineers past Anderson University 2-1 in men's soccer action on Tuesday.
Vatterrodt scored at 2:11 into the second overtime for his 17th goal of the season to propel Rose-Hulman to a key cpnference victory. He scored his 16th goal of the campaign to give the Fightin' Engineers the lead in the first half.
Anderson knotted the score at 1-1 on a score by Brody Reinholt at the 58:48 mark of the second half. The Ravens outshot Rose-Hulman 18-14 in the contest, with freshman Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) earning the victory with five saves in net for the Engineers.
Vatterrodt led Rose-Hulman with five shots. John Munson (Bloomington, Ill./University) and Ben Green (Frisco, Texas/Centennial) added two shots each. Munson also had the assist on the first half goal, while Green provided the assist on the overtime winner.
Rose-Hulman improved to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Anderson stands 3-3 in league matches. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at Bluffton University on Sunday.
