746-all-hcacTERRE HAUTE, IND -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology claimed eight all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer awards, in results released by the league office on Thursday.

Senior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) and sophomore Mike Schiff (Martinsville, Ind./Mooresville) were named HCAC Offensive and co-Defensive Players of the Year to lead the individual honors.  Sean Helliwell was also honored as the league Coach of the Year for the third time in his four seasons at Rose-Hulman.

First-team all-league award winners included Vatterrodt, Schiff, senior Tim Hollingshead (St. Peters, Mo./Lutheran), freshman Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) and sophomore William Senat (Edmond, Okla./North).

Second-team all-conference award winners included sophomore Ben Green (Frisco, Texas/Centennial) and freshman Andrew Bartush (Granger/Penn).

Sophomore Spencer Johnson (Yorkville, Ill./Aurora Christian) was also honored with a spot on the conference sportsmanship team.

Vatterrodt has set Rose-Hulman school records with 21 goals, 10 assists and 52 points this season.  He earned first-team all-league honors in 2009 and 2010, and received third-team all-Great Lakes Region honors from the NSCAA last season.  He stands third in school history in career goals (39) and points (104), while ranking as the all-time leader in assists with 24.

Schiff has helped anchor a defensive effort that has resulted in Rose-Hulman outscoring the opposition 59-16 this year.  The Fightin' Engineers have a school record goals against average of 0.76 entering this week's NCAA Division III Tournament matchup.  He also has helped the Engineers allow just three goals during the team's current 11-match winning streak.

Helliwell has compiled a record of 32-4-3 in HCAC competition since taking over at Rose-Hulman prior to the 2008 season and holds the highest winning percentage among men's soccer head coaches at the college with a career mark of 50-23-8.

Hollingshead appeared in 18 matches as primarily a defensive midfielder with three goals, one assist and seven points this season.  He was named HCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring the first goal in the 5-1 victory over Earlham College in the league championship match.

Miller has a perfect 12-0 record with 40 saves and a 0.33 goals against average in 14 appearances at Rose-Hulman.  His efforts include six shutouts and he currently ranks No. 3 nationally in both goals against average and save percentage (.909).

Senat enjoyed a breakthrough sophomore season with nine goals and 20 points for Rose-Hulman, including three game winning efforts.  He contributed the first two goals in the team's 8-0 HCAC semifinal win over Mount St. Joseph.

Bartush jumped into the Engineer lineup as a freshman with one goal in 21 appearances as one of the team's defensive anchors.

Green finished second on the team in scoring with seven goals, nine assists and 23 points this season.  He ranks third in Rose-Hulman history in single-season assists.

Rose-Hulman will open the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday at 5 p.m. with a matchup against No. 9 Ohio Northern University in Cleveland at Case Western Reserve.  The match will be broadcast live on WMHD-90.7 FM with live in-game video, audio and stats available at www.rose-hulman.edu/sports.
