Rose-Hulman Stuns Illinois Wesleyan with Goals in Last Minute of Regulation and First Overtime


Race1TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stunned Illinois Wesleyan with goals in the final four seconds of regulation and the last minute of the first overtime to capture a 2-1 men's soccer win on Wednesday.

Sophomore Adam Carlson (Brownsburg) knotted the score with just four seconds remaining in regulation time to force the extra session.

Carlson then scored again with 32 seconds left in the first overtime to complete the come from behind win.

Freshman Benjamin Green (Frisco, Texas/Centennial) provided the assist on Carlson's first goal to give Rose-Hulman an extra session.  Freshman John Munson (Bloomington, Ill./University) assisted the game winner in his first college game played in his hometown.

Rose-Hulman outshot Illinois Wesleyan 14-11 in the evenly contested matchup. Carlson joined senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central) and sophomore B.J. Thompson (Princeton) with a team-high three shots.

The effort made a winner of goalkeeper Andy Kruth (Cedar Park, Texas/Vista Ridge), who made two saves in the match.

Rose-Hulman improved to 2-5-2 on the season, while Illinois Wesleyan dropped to 1-4-1.  The Engineers host Hanover College on Saturday.
