TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- DePauw
University relied on timely offense to defeat Rose-Hulman Institute
of Technology 3-0 in the men's soccer opener for both schools on
DePauw held a 1-0 halftime advantage on a score by Sam
Meyer in the 19th minute. The Tigers added a second goal on a
score by Gary Pett six minutes into the second half.
Rose-Hulman fought back to keep the shot totals nearly
even in the contest, with DePauw claiming a 7-6 edge in
Senior Corbin Clow (Martinsville) and
senior Mitch Buffington (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the
Engineer offense with two shots each.
DePauw added an insurance tally in the 89th minute on a
goal by Shelton Graves. Nate Sprenkel made three saves in
goal for the Tigers in the shutout.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Wheaton College
Invitational this weekend. The Fightin' Engineers square off
with host Wheaton on Friday night, then face Elmhurst College on
