Rose-Hulman, Transylvania Battle to 2-2 Draw


Schiff2TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Transylvania University battled to a 2-2 draw in a matchup of two men's soccer program that have combined for five straight HCAC titles.

Junior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) and senior Eric Myers (Indianapolis/ Mount Vernon) provided the offense with first half goals in a matchup that featured all four total scores in the first 42 minutes.

Vatterrodt opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Brian Williams of Transylvania knotted the score at 1-1 in the 11th minute.  Myers gave the Engineers a 2-1 edge in the 23rd minute.

Peter Mikhail scored the game tying goal for Transylvania to knot the score at 2-2.

The defenses then took over, with the final 68 minutes played without a score.

Rose-Hulman outshot Transylvania 8-4 in the match, with Vatterrodt, Myers and senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central) recorded two shots each.

Senior goalie Andy Kruth (Cedar Park, Texas/Vista Ridge) earned the draw in net.

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-5-3 on the season and are 2-0-1 in the HCAC, while Transylvania stands 8-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in league play.  The Engineers travel to Franklin on Tuesday.
