Rose-Hulman, Franklin Battle to 1-1 Men's Soccer Draw


Race1TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Franklin College battled to a 1-1 draw in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night.

With the draw, Rose-Hulman, Franklin and Anderson share first place honors with eight points and a 2-0-2 record.  Transylvania stands just behind with seven points and a 2-0-1 mark.

Junior Tim Hollingshead (St. Peters, Mo./Lutheran) helped the Engineers rally from a 1-0 deficit with a score in the 85th minute to force overtime.  Senior Nick Race (Martinsville) was credited with the assist.

The tightly contested match featured several chances for Rose-Hulman goals, including a pair of shots hitting the crossbar in the second half.

Rose-Hulman outshot Franklin 20-6 in the match, with senior Corbin Clow (Martinsville) recording a match-high eight shots.  Junior Eric Davenport (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) recorded three saves and Lucas Hill tallied 10 for the Grizzlies in the draw.  Joel Fisher put Franklin on the board with a score in the 36th minute.

Rose-Hulman stands 5-5-4 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play, while Franklin has a 5-4-3 mark and a 2-0-2 league record.  The Engineers travel to Manchester College on Saturday.
