Rose-Hulman, Fontbonne Men's Soccer Teams Battle to Draw

Vatterodt2TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored two first half goals, before Fontbonne University rallied with two second half scores to force a 2-2 draw in men's soccer action on Wednesday night.

Junior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) scored both goals for Rose-Hulman to provide the Engineer offense.  Vatterrodt scored in the fourth minute on a cross from senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central), then scored again in the 25th minute on a pass from senior Joe Salisbury (Fort Wayne/Homestead).

Fontbonne rallied with two second half goals from freshman Zach Meyer to knot the score.  Meyer score from Justin Williams in the 55th minute and Joe Reidel in the 62nd minute.

Both teams battled through the remaining 28 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime without a score.  Rose-Hulman outshot the Griffins 15-11 in the match, including 4-2 in the final 10 minutes of overtime.

Vatterrodt led the Engineers with six shots.  Senior Eric Myers (Indianapolis/Mount Vernon) and sophomore Adam Carlson (Brownbsurg) had two shots each.  Junior Eric Davenport (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) picked up the draw as the Engineer goalkeeper.



Rose-Hulman stands 1-4-2 on the year, while Fontbonne holds a 1-2-2 record.  The Engineers host Denison University on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jim Rendel Field.
