Late Penalty Kick Helps Manchester Defeat Rose-Hulman

Carlson1NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. -- Manchester College scored on a penalty kick with just 18 seconds left in the game to defeat Rose-Hulman 2-1 Saturday.
 

Sophomore Joe Byrd (Danville, Ind./Covenant Christian) scored the lone Engineer goal after he stole a pass deep in the Spartan defensive area. 

Dian Radev scored the game tying goal in the 88th minute on a pass from Andrew Mocherman.  His final goal came just two minutes later for the final margin of victory. 

Junior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central) and senior Mitch Buffington (O'Fallon, Ill.) led Rose-Hulman offense with five shots each.  The Engineers outshot the Spartans by a 19-9 count. 

Rose-Hulman stands 5-6-4 overall and 2-1-2 in conference play, while Manchester improved to a 4-9-2 mark and a 3-2 league record.  The Engineers return home to face Anderson University Tuesday night.
