Last Minute Goal Leads Rose-Hulman Soccer Past Wabash

Schiff1TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology snapped a scoreless tie with the game winning goal in the final minute to earn a 1-0 men's soccer victory over Wabash College on Wednesday night.

Senior Paul Bouagnon (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central) battled through a contested play that feature a touch from junior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University).  The scoring chance began with a half-field pass from junior Tim Hollingshead (St. Peters, Mo./Lutheran).

Bouagnon won the contested ball in the box and scored with 32 seconds left in regulation time to lift the Fightin' Engineers to their first victory of the season.

Junior Eric Davenport (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) recorded his third career shutout to earn the win.  Davenport tallied four saves in the match.

Rose-Hulman outshot Wabash 12-8 in the evenly contested matchup and also earned an 8-4 edge on corner kicks.  Sophomore Zane Englert (Waterloo, Ill.) led the Engineers with three shots.

For Wabash, Dylan Andrew led the offensive performance with four shots.



Rose-Hulman improved to 1-3 on the season, while Wabash fell to 3-1.  The Engineers travel to Wilmington for matchups with the host Quakers and Kenyon College this weekend.
