TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men’s soccer team will look to continue its strong start to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference season with a home matchup with Franklin College Wednesday at the Intramural Field.
The Engineers (7-4-3, 4-0-1 HCAC) enter Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. tilt with an unbeaten conference record after Saturday’s 1-1, double-overtime draw at Transylvania. Rose-Hulman is currently in second place in the league, just behind undefeated Hanover (5-0).
Senior Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) leads RHIT with nine goals and two assists and teammates Will Senat (Edmond, Okla./North) and Ben Lyon (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) add five and four goals, respectively.
Junior keeper Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) remains one of the top goalkeepers in the league, as he holds a league-best goals-against average (0.69) and ranks second in save percentage (.821).
Franklin (4-7-2, 2-3) dropped a 3-1 setback to Defiance Saturday, as reserve Antonia Gioe leads the Grizzlies with six goals on the year. William Hilgendorf adds four goals and goalkeeper Lucas Hill has 70 saves in 13 starts to go along with a 1.62 goals-against average.
Rose-Hulman was a 2-0 winner in the last meeting between the two teams, defeating the Grizzlies on the road behind goals from Belk and Senat.
