IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Mike
Schiff (Martinsville/Mooresville H.S.) scored the lone
goal of the match to lead the men's soccer team past Hanover
College 1-0 on Saturday.
Schiff scored with 7:26 remaining in the second half on a free kick to help keep Rose-Hulman tied for first place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with Hanover College.
Sophomore Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) recorded his sixth shutout and the team's eighth season to pick up the win in goal. Miller recorded three saves in the match.
Hanover outshot Rose-Hulman 9-7 in the match, with Schiff and senior Adam Carlson (Brownsburg) firing two shots each for the Engineers.
With the win, Rose-Hulman clinched a top-two finish in the HCAC regular season standings. The top two seeds for the HCAC Tournament will host semifinal round matches on Oct. 31.
Rose-Hulman improved to 10-4-3 overall and 6-0-1 in league play, while Hanover stands 6-7-3 and 2-4-1 in conference matches. The Fightin' Engineers host Earlham College on Wednesday night at 7:30.
