Men's Soccer Tops Defiance, Moves to 3-0 in HCAC


DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 3-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play and 7-4-2 overall with a 2-0 win at Defiance College on Saturday.

Junior Drew Belk (Jasper) scored in the 36th minute to give Rose-Hulman a 1-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, junior William Senat (Edmond, Okla./North) added an insurance goal in the 67th minute, courtesy of a pass from senior B.J. Thompson (Princeton).

Rose-Hulman outshot Defiance 14-6 in the match, with junior Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) recording three saves in the shutout.  Senat led the offense with four shots, and junior Mitchell Ishmael (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) adding three.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Wednesday at Mount St. Joseph.  Defiance fell to 1-11-1 and 1-1-1 in league matches.
