IN -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled hard in
double overtime to earn a 2-2 draw against Transylvania University
on Saturday.
The Engineers jumped to a 1-0 lead thanks to a shot earned in the ninth minute by junior William Senat (Edmond, Okla.) Senat also contributed on a double assist alongside junior Ishmael Marshall (Knoxville, Tenn.) to junior Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind.) in the 74th minute.
Transylvania's Tyler Crombie recorded two assists to Eric Froschauer and Kyle Smith all in the second half.
Sophomore Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) recorded four saves for the Engineers.
Transylvania scored twice early in the second half to take a 2-1 lead, before Belk's goal tied the match at 2-2 and forced overtime.
Rose-Hulman also celebrated senior day for Joe Byrd (Danville/Convenant Christian), Adam Carlson (Brownsburg), Zane Englert (Waterloo, Ill.) and B.J. Thompson (Princeton) prior to the match.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-4-3 on the season and 4-0-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Transylvania University stands 10-1-3 and 4-0-1 in conference play. The Fightin' Engineers will travel to Franklin on Wednesday.
