HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled No. 18
ranked DePauw University to a scoreless draw in men's soccer action
on Sunday at Jim Rendel Field.
DePauw controlled much of the first half action, before Rose-Hulman came on with a strong second half performance. The Tigers outshot Rose-Hulman 8-1 in the opening 45 minutes, but the Engineers owned a 6-3 mark in the remainder of the match.
DePauw also had six first half corner kicks, but Rose-Hulman responded with seven corner kicks in the second half and two overtime periods.
Sophomore Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Rose-Hulman defensive effort with five saves. Tony Halterman of DePauw also recorded a shutout with two saves.
Rose-Hulman had two excellent chances to score at the end of each overtime period. Freshman Marco Cattani (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) had a strong chance in front at the end of the first overtime, and junior Will Senat (Edmond, Okla./North) had a shot stopped with a diving save in the final minute of the second extra session.
Senat and Cattani led the Rose-Hulman offense with two shots each. DePauw stands 4-0-1, while Rose-Hulman is 1-2-2 after the draw. The Engineers head to Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday.
