TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- DePauw University withstood a charge by the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team in the second half to earn a 3-2 victory on Sunday.
DePauw jumped out to a 3-1 lead after 35 minutes on goals by Andy Morrison, Nate Snyder and Brendan Johnson. Senior Clint Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill./University) knotted the score at 1-1 for Rose-Hulman with a score in the 20th minute.
Sophomore Ryan Rieboldt (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) blasted his first college goal in the 43rd minute on a free kick to bring Rose-Hulman within 3-2.
Rose-Hulman outshot DePauw 4-1 in the second half in a match that featured even numbers of shots (11) and corner kicks (4) for each team. Vatterrodt led the Engineer offense with four shots.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-3 on the season, while DePauw improved to 4-1. The Engineers host Webster University on Wednesday night.
