MARTIN, TENN. -- The Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology rifle team enjoyed a successful weekend at
Murray State and Tennessee-Martin on Friday and
Saturday.
The team compiled a season-high score of 4,471 to open the weekend at Murray State. Rose-Hulman followed with a score of 4,414 at Tennessee-Martin.
Sophomore Evan Duvall (Smyrna, Tenn.) paced the Engineers with a record setting day at Murray State. Duvall set school records for total scoring (1,142), smallbore (575) and kneeling (195) in the historic performance.
Senior Malhon Godwin (Blue Grass, Iowa/Davenport West) placed second among Rose-Hulman competitors with a score of 1,120 at Murray State, highlighted by a 568 in air rifle.
Freshman Allie Carlson (Goose Creek, S.C./Patch American) came home third among Engineers with a score of 1,113 and a 567 in air rifle. Sophomore Adam Foss (Fort Wayne/Concordia Lutheran) rounded out the team score with a 1,096.
At Tennessee-Martin, the Engineers relied on a 2,256 score in air rifle to bolster the overall performance. Duvall led Rose-Hulman with a score of 1,124, including a team-high 566 in smallbore. Foss pitched in with a 1,118 and led the team with 570 in air rifle.
Carlson fired a 1,091, highlighted by 561 in air rifle. Godwin relied on a score of 567 in air rifle as part of a 1,081 total.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at Ohio State University on Feb. 11.
