BOSTON,
MASS. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rifle team
topped Massachusetts Institute of Technology by one point to win
the four-team Engineer Invitational on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman scored 4,377 points to narrowly top the 4,376 total by MIT. John Jay and Wentworth Institute rounded out the placement.
Junior Evan Duvall (Smyrna, Tenn.) led the Engineers with a total score of 1,110 points. Duvall tallied 557 in smallbore and 553 in air rifle.
Junior Adam Foss (Fort Wayne/Concordia Lutheran) contributed a score of 1,105, including a 557 in smallbore.
Junior Suzanne Eisenberger (Clarence Center, N.Y.) pitched in with a score of 1,082. Sophomore Allie Carlson (Goose Creek, S.C./Patch American) added a score of 1,080 to round out the victory.
The result marked Rose-Hulman's first intercollegiate athletic victory over MIT in a team competition.
Rose-Hulman will compete in a dual match against MIT on Sunday.
