EAST LANSING, MICH. -- The Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology rifle team capped the 2010-11 season with a
fourth-place performance of 11 teams at the Western Intercollegiate
Rifle Championships meet at Michigan State on Saturday.
Freshman Evan Duvall (Smyrna, Tenn.) led the Engineers with a score of 922 points in a match featuring a full smallbore performance and 2/3 of the standard air rifle competition. Duvall led the team with a 550 in smallbore.
Freshman Adam Foss (Fort Wayne/ Concordia Lutheran) led the air rifle effort with a score of 381.
Junior Malhon Godwin (Blue Gress, Iowa/Davenport West) contributed 912 points to the efforts, followed by sophomore Will Adler (Stroudsburg, Pa.) with 897 points and sophomore Katy Dimon (Fairfax, Va./Flint Hill) with 889.
ded a score of 1,099. ched in with 1,070 points, and freshman Sarah Irish (Dearborn, Mich./Edsel Ford) contributed 1,041 points.
Following the meet, frreshman Rachel Collett (Fishers/Hamilton Southeastern) and freshman Ethan O'Connor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) earned score improvement awards from the WIRC. O'Connor was crowned as third-place in the conference in smallbore handicap, marking improvement in score throughout the season. Collett earned a fifth-place award in the same category.
