Rifle Places Fourth in WIRC Match

Godwin1EAST LANSING, MICH. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed fourth of 10 teams in the Western Intercollegiate Rifle Championships at Michigan State University on Saturday.

The effort also marks the close of the Fightin' Engineers 2011-12 rifle season.

Senior Malhon Godwin (Blue Grass, Iowa/Davenport West) capped his career with a score of 938, including a 557 in smallbore and a 381 mark in air rifle.  The air rifle mark allowed Godwin to finish fifth in the handicap air rifle competition.

Sophomore Evan Duvall (Smyrna, Tenn.) added a score of 925 to the effort.  Sophomore Adam Foss (Fort Wayne/Concordia Lutheran) also pitched in with 919 points.

Freshman Allie Carlson (Goose Creek, S.C./Patch American) rounded out the team score with a tally of 912.
