SEYMOUR, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rallied with a strong day two score of 345 to place second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships on Sunday at Shadowood Golf Course.
Rose-Hulman moved from fourth to second in the team scoring, passing Mount St. Joseph and Franklin during the final 18 holes of competition. The Fightin' Engineers ended up with a two-day score of 697 to finish three strokes ahead of Franklin for second place.
Hanover College won the HCAC Championship with a two-day score of 662 and will represent the conference at the NCAA Division III Tournament in May.
The second place finish marks the best team finish in the conference championships in Rose-Hulman women's golf history.
Peem Chanrotchanaphan (Chiang Mai, Thailand/Grace International School) earned Conference Freshman of the Year honors with a third-place individual finish. Chanrotchanaphan fired rounds of 83 and 81 to earn first-team all-conference honors.
Sophomore Hayley Vonder Haar (Highland, Ill./Highland) joined Chanrotchanaphan on the first-team all-conference squad. Vonder Haar came home eighth with scores of 89 and 82 for a two-day total of 171.
Two freshmen rounded out Rose-Hulman's team score at the tournament. Taylor King (Scottsville, Ky./Allen County Scottsville) recorded scores of 86 and 93, and Erin Scully (Arcadia, Ind./Hamilton Heights) tallied rounds of 94 and 89.
