CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Sanders Park (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) won Medalist honors at the Wabash College Men's Golf Invitational to lead a second-place team finish.
Park tied teammate Travis Whithaus (Robinson, Ill./Vincennes University) and a 1974 performance from Bill Olah with a school record 68 on Saturday, then fired a 74 on Sunday to win the tournament with a two-day score of 142.
For his efforts, Park was also named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week on Monday.
Freshman teammate Sam Pastoriza (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) came home second among Engineers with consistent scores of 74 and 75. Whithaus came home just one stroke behind Pastoriza with scores of 76 and 74.
Sophomore Chris Lambert (Chesterfield, Mo./Chaminade Prep) fired a round of 72 on Sunday to make a major contribution to the team score, after an 81 on Saturday. Sophomore Kent Kraus (Greenwood/Center Grove) added scores of 75 and 81 to round out the team score.
DePauw fired a score of 281 on Sunday after a 303 on Saturday to win the tournament with a two-day total of 584. Rose-Hulman had a two-day score of 588 to finish just four strokes behind.
The team will participate in the Chauncey Cup Alumni Outing on Saturday at Hulman Links to conclude the fall season.
