FRANKLIN, IND. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's golf team placed third at one of the most competitive tournaments in the nation at the Legends of Indiana Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.
Mount St. Joseph, ranked No. 2 nationally in NCAA Division III by Golfstat, won the event with a two-day score of 601. Sixth-ranked Millikin came home second at 608, followed by Rose-Hulman at 614.
Sophomore Sanders Park (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) led the Engineer effort with a sixth-place finish. Park shot a round of 75 on Sunday and fired a 74 on Monday.
Freshman Tapat Wittayakom (Chaing Mai, Thailand/Prem Tinsulanonda International) came home 11th overall with rounds of 73 and 78.
Junior Travis Whithaus (Robinson, Ill./Vincennes University) also had two rounds in the 70s with scores of 79 and 74. Sophomore Chris Lambert (Chesterfield, Mo./Chaminade Prep) contributed scores of 82 and 81, and freshman Sam Pastoriza (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) rounded out the team score with rounds of 80 and 85.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Little Giant-Engineer Cup Match at Wabash College on Oct. 2.
