TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football players earned three all-North Region awards from d3football.com, in results released today.
Third-team all-North Region honorees included sophomore linebacker Grant DePalma (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect), senior defensive back Jordan Martin (Shelbyville/Triton Central) and junior punter Eric Schaible (Findlay, Ohio).
DePalma ranked among the national leaders with 71 solo hits among his 100 total tackles this season. He earned NCAA Division III National Player of the Week for his efforts in the Homecoming win over Manchester and ranked second on the team with 14.5 tackles-for-loss and 7.5 sacks.
Martin finished second on the team with 83 tackles, including 45 solo hits and one interception. His career featured a total of 227 career tackles, with exactly 83 in each of the past two years. In addition, Martin earned a spot on the HCAC all-sportsmanship team.
Schaible averaged 40.5 yards per punt on 61 attempts to help lead Rose-Hulman's special teams performance. He booted eight punts of 50 yards or more and also placed eight punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line with just one touchback this season.
DePalma, Martin and Schaible helped Rose-Hulman compile a 5-5 record this season for its school record setting eighth consecutive season at .500 or above. The trio also helped the Fightin' Engineers finish 5-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
