Rose-Hulman Football Makes Donation to TH K-9 Unit

746-check-presTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team made a donation of $785 to the Brent D. Long Memorial Fund on Nov. 1 as part of the team's Community Day effort.

Rose-Hulman honored the Terre Haute Police Department K-9 unit as the team's guest coaches during the Fightin' Engineers 20-14 win over Mount St. Joseph in October.  The team donated game proceeds to the Memorial Fund, established for the fallen police officer following a search on July 11.

Current K-9 teams within the Terre Haute Police Department were honored prior to the game and participate in a demonstration at halftime of the contest.  In 2008, 2009 and 2010, the Terre Haute Police Department K-9 Unit was directly responsible for 338 arrests, 974 calls for service, and finding over $1.3 million worth of drugs and over $100,000 of cash from illegal activities.
