Dean Griffing Named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week

GriffingTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Dean Griffing (Plano, Ill./Aurora Christian) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's victory at Mount St. Joseph.

Griffing tallied 14 tackles, including 4.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks, to help Rose-Hulman earn a 28-21 overtime victory over the Lions.

On the season, Griffing has tallied 51 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss and 10 sacks.  His efforts have also included two forced fumbles and one pass breakup.

The mechanical engineering major currently leads the HCAC with his 10 sacks and is tied for league-high honors with 16 tackles-for-loss.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-5 on the season and hosts Anderson University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
