AbbottTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology freshmen Aaron Abbott (Lebanon, Ohio) (top photo) and Craig Larew (Indianapolis/Lawrence North) (bottom photo) each captured Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week honors in results released today by the league office.

Abbott was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Larew took home Special Teams Player of the Week honors for their parts in helping the Fightin' Engineers earn a 42-8 victory over Anderson on Saturday.

Abbott tied Rose-Hulman's single-game school record with four touchdown catches as part of a 10-reception performance.  He gained 166 receiving yards with four scores to tie the single-game mark set by Ed Huonder in 1987.  Abbott scored on touchdown receptions of 14, 27, 42 and 20 yards.

LarewLarew finished a perfect 6-6 on extra points and also booted one touchback in his six kickoffs to lead the special teams unit.  He ranks third on the team with 37 points this season, including 23 extra points, four field goals and one two-point conversion run.

The Fightin' Engineers stand 4-5 on the season and can achieve their school record eighth consecutive year at .500 or better with a win over Earlham on Saturday.  The "Battle of the Borders Broadsword Game" begins at 1:30 and will feature Senior Day for 10 members of the Rose-Hulman football program.
