TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes combined for three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards, in results released by the league office on Monday.

Junior John Burt (West Terre Haute/West Vigo) was named HCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week, junior Eric Schaible (Findlay, Ohio) was the Football Special Teams Player of the Week, and senior B.J. Thompson (Princeton) earned Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors.

BurtBurt returned an interception 20 yards for his first college touchdown, had 10 total tackles and made two key stops inside the five-yard line to key Rose-Hulman's win at Defiance.  Burt had five solo and five assisted tackles, including a stop on the three-yard line as time expired in the first half.

On the season, Burt has tallied 15 tackles, with 1.5 tackles-for-loss, two pass breakups and one interception.

SchaibleSchaible booted six punts for a 47.2 yard average per kick, highlighted by a 60-yard boot, to help Rose-Hulman at Defiance on Saturday.  He had punts downed at the one and three-yard lines to keep Defiance in long fields.

Schaible averages 42.4 yards per kick this season, with four inside-the-20 yard line and four punts of over 50 yards.

Thompson scored the game winning goal in Rose-Hulman's 3-0 victory over Millikin on Saturday.  He also had the team's lone score in a 2-1 loss to Illinois Wesleyan. 

ThompsonFor the season, Thompson leads the Fightin' Engineers with two goals and four points.  He has tallied career totals of nine goals and one assist as a member of the Rose-Hulman men's soccer program. 

The football team stands 1-2 overall and 1-0 in league play entering Saturday's home matchup with Manchester.  The men's soccer team has a 2-3-2 overall mark and hosts Fontbonne on Wednesday, Principia on Saturday and Centre on Sunday.
