TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes combined for three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards, in results released by the league office on Monday.

Sophomore Grant DePalma (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) was named HCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week, senior Kyle Kovach (Munster/Andrean) was the HCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week, and sophomore Kylie McCollum (Lee's Summit, Mo./West) earned Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors.

DepalmaDePalma recorded the fifth 20-tackle performance in Rose-Hulman football history as part of Saturday's 28-26 win over Manchester.  He recorded 18 solo tackles, six tackles-for-loss and four sacks, which was one-half sack away from the Rose-Hulman single-game school record.

On the season, DePalma leads the HCAC with 30 solo tackles and five sacks.  He paces the Fightin' Engineers with 42 stops.

KovachKovach combined for 156 rushing and receiving yards, along with three touchdowns, in Rose-Hulman's 28-26 win over Manchester.  He led the team with seven receptions for 61 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown catch, and rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Kovach holds Rose-Hulman career school records for rushing yards (3,549) and all-purpose yards (5,962), and has rushed for a team-high 544 yards in four games this season.

The football team improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in HCAC play with the win.  Rose-Hulman travels to Hanover on Saturday.

McCollumMcCollum won singles and doubles matches in the same match for the first time this season to help Rose-Hulman top Transylvania 5-4 on Saturday.

She improved to 7-1 in singles play with her sixth straight victory in straight sets.  McCollum also teamed with Lauren Reberger to earn an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles slot.

The effort helped Rose-Hulman move to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in HCAC play.  The Fightin' Engineers host Hanover and Franklin in a key pair of league matches this weekend.
