TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes earned two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, in results released today by the league.
Senior Matt Green (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was named the HCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week, and sophomore Marie Stettler (Edgerton, Wis.) captured the league Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor.
Green tied for team-high honors with 12 tackles and added three tackles-for-loss and one sack to lead Rose-Hulman's defensive effort in a 23-13 loss to DePauw on Saturday night. The Engineers allowed just nine offensive points to the Tigers in the matchup.
Green enters his third year as a starter for the Fightin' Engineer defense and crossed the 100 career tackle mark in the contest.
Stettler helped the Fightin' Engineers finish 2-1 last week by combining for a 5-1 overall record.
Stettler finished 3-0 at the No. 1 singles position and compiled a 2-1 mark in doubles play. She improved her career singles record to an impressive 19-6 with the effort.
The women's tennis team opens HCAC play at home against Bluffton on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The football team returns to action on Sept. 17 with a trip to Kalamazoo College in Michigan.
