TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes earned two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, in results released today by the league.
Sophomore Eric Schaible (Findlay, Ohio) was named the HCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week, and sophomore Paige Cook (Terre Haute/North Vigo) captured the league Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor.
Schaible captured Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive weeks. He tied Rose-Hulman school records with 11 punts for 424 yards, and set a school record with six punts inside the 20-yard line in Rose-Hulman's 31-20 victory over Hanover.
Schaible leads the HCAC with 10 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line and has averaged 39.6 yards per kick.
Cook finished a perfect 2-0 at the No. 5 singles position and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles as part of Rose-Hulman's 2-0 team record last weekend. The Fightin' Engineers topped Transylvania 5-4 and Mount St. Joseph 8-1 to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Cook stands 7-1 in singles play and 6-1 in doubles matches this season as part of Rose-Hulman's fast early season start.
The football team travels to Manchester College on Saturday, while the women's tennis team hits the road for Hanover on Saturday.
