TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed two student-athletes on
the Capital One Academic All-District Team, in results released
today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Senior tennis player Megan Chann (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) captured second-team academic all-district honors in the women's at-large category, and sophomore golfer John Rigitano (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail) earned second-team academic all-district accolades in the men's at-large category.
Chann completed her Rose-Hulman career ranked second in career doubles wins (55) and winning percentage (.671); second in total wins (83) and first in single-season doubles wins with 17 in 2007. She compiled an 11-9 singles record and finished with nine doubles wins this season.
Chann, a mechanical
engineering major, helped lead the Rose-Hulman women's tennis team
into the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time this
season as the squad's No. 1 singles player.
Rigitano was the No. 2 ranked golfer on the men's squad this season with a stroke average of 84.3. The electrical engineering major's efforts included two top-10 finishes in seven events.
Rigitano's efforts this season also included helping Rose-Hulman defeat Wabash in a dual match to reclaim the Giant-Engineer Cup for the first time since 2006.
