abbott-korTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Two Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes each earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for their efforts last weekend, in results released by the league office.

Freshman Aaron Abbott (Lebanon, Ohio) was named the Football Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) earned her second consecutive HCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Abbott scored two touchdowns in Rose-Hulman's 49-21 loss at Centre College on Saturday.  He hauled in nine receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 36 yards and another score.

Abbott currently ranks second on the Fightin' Engineers in all-purpose yards at 130.0 per game.  Rose-Hulman opens the HCAC schedule at Defiance College on Saturday.

dangel-setDangel earned league Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.  She recorded 99 digs in five matches to help pace the Fightin' Engineers as part of a hectic week.

Currently, Dangel ranks second in the HCAC in digs per set at 4.86 and has tallied 170 digs in 35 sets.  She crossed over the 700-dig mark in her career last weekend and has now tallied 703 at Rose-Hulman.

The Fightin' Engineer volleyball team stands 6-3 on the season and returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the DePauw Invitational.
