Montgomery Named HCAC Cross Country Runner of the Week

225-montgomery-wilmTERRE HAUTE, IND. – Senior Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her efforts at the #JennaStrong Fall Classic at Wilmington College on Friday.

Montgomery set a new Rose-Hulman school record of 18:34 for five kilometers to snap the previous record set by NCAA Division III national qualifier Rachel Krasich in 2007 by 20 seconds.

The effort helped Montgomery finish second of 397 runners in a meet that featured runners from the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA levels.  The meet which was held in the memory of Jenna Parlette, a Wilmington runner who battled Epilepsy and passed away while leading a meet at Franklin College earlier this year. 

Montgomery and the Fightin' Engineer cross country teams return to action at the HCAC Championships at Defiance College on Nov. 2.
