TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology showed strong potential in the first women's cross country meet of the season at Indiana State University on Saturday.
Senior Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) led the effort with a third-place finish in the Open Race in a time of 20:28. Freshman Emilie Hobbs (Peru) added a mark of 22:09.8, with junior Anna Taylor (Owensboro, Ky./Apollo) just behind in a time of 22:12.7.
Junior Ashley Schumacher (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South) came home in a time of 23:56, and junior Kathleen Boyce (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) rounded out the top five with a mark of 24:31.3.
"Three of our top five runners trimmed more than a minute off their time at the same meet of last season. We showed that have the personnel to be in the top-half of the HCAC in seven weeks," said first-year head coach Geoff Wayton.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Friday.
