GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, hosted by Calvin College in Michigan.
The men's eight-kilometer race will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Gainey Athletic Facility in Grand Rapids.
Rose-Hulman enjoyed a strong second-place finish at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2. Junior Stuart West (La Porte) led the individual performance with a third-place finish, and junior Ryan Meyer (Greenwood/Center Grove) also earned all-conference accolades with an 11th place effort.
Four other Fightin' Engineers earned honorable mention all-conference accolades at the HCAC Championships. The pack of Kevin Mauser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler), Sam Sobczak (Westfield, Ind./Westfield), Charlie Fenoglio (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) and Jacob Becker (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) finished 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th, respectively.
The six all-conference honorees will be joined at the NCAA Regional by junior Matthew Billingsley (Moline, Ill./Alleman), freshman Max Kryza (Fenton, Mich.), junior Kyle Smolarek (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North) and senior Andrew Thompson (Mundelein, Ill./Vernon Hills).
Awards will be presented at the finish line following the completion of the race. Individual and team qualifiers will advance to the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 23 at Hanover College based on the finish at Saturday's race.
