Men's Cross Country Places 4th at Intercollegiate Meet

225-thompsonBLOOMINGTON, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned its best placement at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet in over 25 years with a fourth-place effort on Friday at Indiana University.

Senior Andrew Thompson (Mundelein, Ill./Vernon Hills) led the individual performance with a time of 27:28 and a 24th place finish in the Little State Meet.  Junior Stuart West (La Porte) added a 26th-place effort with a mark of 27:32.

Other contributors to the score included sophomore Sam Sobczak (Westfield) in 28th (27:39); junior Ryan Meyer (Greenwood/Center Grove) in 35th (27:54); and sophomore Kevin Mauser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) in 42nd (28:18).

The consistent performances helped Rose-Hulman edge Taylor University by one point for fourth place.  The Fightin' Engineers finished in the top five in the Little State Meet for the first time since the 1980s in the performance.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Hanover Pre-National Meet on October 5.
