ATLANTA, GA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology shot 52% from the field and junior Kelsey Ploof (Noblesville) recorded a double-double to lead the Fightin' Engineers past Spelman 64-36 on Saturday night.

Ploof recorded her second double-double of the season and the sixth of her career with 16 points and 11 rebounds on 6-8 from the field.  Freshman Addie Johnson (Caledonia, Mich./Catholic Central) also reached double figures with 10 points.

Sophomore Sheree Williams (Bluffton, S.C.) came off the bench with nine points.  The balanced attack also included junior Lauren Meadows (Indianapolis/Brebeuf) with eight points and five assists, and freshman Cassidy Cain (Noblesville) pitched in with five points.  Freshman Shayla Branes (Highland Park, Mich./Fitzgerald) added four points and eight rebounds.

Rose-Hulman built a 37-18 halftime lead by holding Spelman to 29% from the field and shooting 48%.  The game started with a 9-0 run over the first four minutes by the Engineers, before Rose-Hulman built a 16-4 edge.

Spelman closed to within 10 points twice in the first half, but the Engineers answered with a 9-0 run to close the half and build the 19-point edge.

In the second half, Rose-Hulman controlled the contest and led by at least 17 points through the entire 20 minutes.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on the season and returns to action at Webster University on Tuesday night.
