Strong Defense Leads Hanover Past Rose-Hulman


FinnellEC2TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Torin Franz scored 30 points and Hanover College relied on a strong defensive effort to top Rose-Hulman Instittute of Technology 66-43 on Wednesday at Hulbert Arena.

The HCAC regular championship Hanover squad improved to 22-1 with the victory.

Freshman Heather Finnell (Decatur, Tenn./Cleveland) led the Engineer offense with 14 points.  Junior Alisa Dickerson (Elizabethtown, Ky.) also reached double figures with 10 points.

Hanover held the Engineers to 32% from the field for the contest and Franz buried six three-pointers to pace the Panther offense.

Rose-Hulman shot 41% from the field in the first half to remain within 37-23 at the break, before Hanover relied on a balanced second half scoring attack to secure the win.

Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-15 on the season but retained sixth place in the HCAC standings at 7-10 in league play.  The Engineers return to action with the regular season home finale against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
