TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will learn its NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament first-round opponent, site and game time on Monday shortly after 12:30 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers earned an automatic bid to this year's 62-team NCAA Division III Tournament with a 70-56 win over Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship game on Saturday night at Hulbert Arena.
The NCAA Division III selection show will be streamed live online on Monday at 12:30 p.m. The show will include the bracket release for the 62-team tournament field, matchups for two individual first round games, the list of two teams receiving byes, and the bracket placement of 14 four-team tournaments that open the event. The NCAA will release both the matchups and the game sites for first and second-round action as part of the selection show.
The 62-team tournament field will include 42 team receiving automatic bids as conference champions; one squad receiving a bid as the top independent or champion from a non-qualifying conference; and 19 at-large bids. Teams earning at-large bids will also be named during the selection show.
Rose-Hulman enters the NCAA Tournament with a 22-5 record after winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament championships for the second consecutive year. The Fightin' Engineers also set a new program record with three consecutive 20-win seasons.
The men's basketball team will make its 11th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and its third in a row for the first time in school history. The Rose-Hulman men's basketball history includes 10 regular season conference titles and four league tournament championships.
The 2013-14 campaign also marks the second time in Fightin' Engineer men's basketball history that the team has won regular season and conference tournament titles in the same season, with the first occurring last year.
