TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Following another career-high scoring performance on Saturday, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Julian Strickland (Indianapolis/Pike) was named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Strickland scored a career-high 36 points in Rose-Hulman's 85-80 win over John Carroll University on Saturday at Hulbert Arena. He finished 11-20 from the field and 12-13 on the free throw line to help the Fightin' Engineers defeat a John Carroll team that entered the game at 6-1 and receiving votes in the weekly d3hoops.com national top 25 poll.
The well rounded performance also included seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocked shots as the Fightin' Engineers improved to 7-3 on the season.
The effort marked the fourth time this year that Strickland has crossed 30 points in a game. He also moved into ninth place on Rose-Hulman's career scoring list with 1,337 points in the victory.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on January 4 with a home matchup against Bluffton University.
