ANDERSON, IND. - Anderson University shot 62% from
the field and relied on a strong start in each half to top
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 69-54 in men's basketball
action on Wednesday.
Brock Morrison and Jarrin Forte paced the Ravens with 16 points each. Phil Hogan contributed 12 points for Anderson.
Freshman James Pillischafske (Louisville, Ky./Male) led the Rose-Hulman offense with 11 points on a trio of three-pointers. Junior Spencer Harlan (Terre Haute/South) added 10 points on a perfect 4-4 from the field.
Sophomore Brenton Balsbaugh (Greenville, Ohio/Arcanum) contributed nine points and six rebounds for the Engineers.
Freshman Julian Strickland (Indianapolis/Pike) added seven points, with sophomores Nate Gissentanner (Conyers, Ga./Rockdale County) and Jon Gerken (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora) adding six points each.
Anderson jumped out to a 15-2 lead five minutes into the contest and maintained a 29-13 lead with 6:11 left in the first half. Rose-Hulman relied on two three-pointers by Gerken and another from Pillischafske to move within 29-22 at the 4:01 mark.
Rose-Hulman later closed within 35-29 at the break. The Ravens opened the second half with a 19-9 spurt over the first 10 minutes to push the lead into double figures and seize control of the contest.
Anderson improved to 10-4 overall and 6-1 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-5 and 3-4 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Mount St. Joseph on Saturday at 5 p.m
