TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Matthew Turk (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail) has been chosen to the first-team NCAA Division III academic all-district seven squad.
Turk will now advance to the national ballot, with the Capital One Academic All-America Team set for release on Tuesday May 21.
Turk is batting .237 this season with four doubles and one triple in 28 appearances and 34 starts. He has played both the catching and first base positions this year, and is listed as a catcher on the Academic All-America ballot due to program rules.
In the classroom, the electrical engineering major has a 3.85 grade point average and has been a multiple quarter honoree on the Dean's List.
Rose-Hulman stands 15-21 overall and 12-9 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with a three-game series at Earlham this weekend. Rose-Hulman will need to win two of three games to clinch a bid into the HCAC Tournament.
