NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK LIST

AkardFieldTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore center fielder Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) was named to the inaugural d3baseball.com National Team of the Week for his efforts on the baseball team's Florida Trip last week.

Akard batted .586 for the week with three four-hit games and five multiple-hit games in six appearances. He recorded an on-base of .594 and slugged .828 as the team's leadoff hitter, helping the Engineers finish 4-2 in games played between Feb. 27 through March 5.

In addition, Akard came out of the bullpen with a strong five-inning performance against Loras College.  He tossed five innings, allowing one hit and one run with five strikeouts as part of a 15-inning loss that marked the second longest game in Rose-Hulman history.

Akard recorded three four-hit games last week, accomplishing the feat against Augustana, Loras and New Jersey.  He scored twice in each game and smashed two doubles against New Jersey.

Akard and the Fightin' Engineers stand 5-3 overall this season and return to action at home against Greenville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
