TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology sophomore Hank Akard (Indianapolis/Ben
Davis) earned d3baseball.com all-Mideast Region honors for
his efforts on the diamond this year.
Akard captured third-team all-region honors after serving as the center fielder and a pitcher for a Rose-Hulman squad that finished 27-14 this season.
Akard started in the outfield while providing depth to all facets of the pitching staff. He finished 1-1 with a 3.13 earned run average and a team-high five saves in 46 innings as a pitcher.
At the plate, the center fielder batted a team-high .371 with 62 hits, 33 runs scored and 14 doubles. He also stole a team-high 12 bases.
Akard and the Fightin' Engineers earned the program's first conference wide championship since 1996 by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title this spring.
