14-title-day-graphicMOLINE, ILL. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands two victories away from its first trip to the NCAA Division III Baseball World Series, entering Sunday's championship round of the 2014 Central Baseball Regional.

Rose-Hulman will face No. 6 ranked St. Thomas University on Sunday at noon Central Time in the first game of the regioinal championship round.  If the Fightin' Engineers win game one, the two teams will play a winner-take-all second game later Sunday afternoon for a trip to the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wis.

Rose-Hulman defeated DePauw 1-0 last night, after rallying to defeat Buena Vista 4-3 in a 13-inning thriller on Saturday afternoon.  The Fightin' Engineers have won three consecutive one-run games to reach the championship round of the NCAA Division III Baseball Regional for the first time in program history.

Earlier in the week, Rose-Hulman defeated No. 1 ranked Webster University 3-2 in extra innings to eliminate the nation's top team and earned its first ever victory over a top-ranked baseball program.  The win marked the second time this season that Rose-Hulman has eliminated the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in an NCAA Tournament this year, after men's soccer accomplished the feat in the fall.

Rose-Hulman stands 29-17 on the season and 3-1 at the NCAA Division III Central Baseball Regional.  St. Thomas enters with a 36-7 mark and is 3-0 in the Regional.  St. Thomas earned a narrow 4-2 victory over Rose-Hulman in the first meeting between the two teams on Wednesday.
